Built in the 13th century, The Konark Temple is a proud part of India’s heritage. Its intricate architecture leaves all those who visit it spellbound by its beauty and makes them want to bring a small part of the same back with themselves.

To acknowledge this very sentiment, Orissa Handloom presents before you it’s new double Ikat weave Cotton saree with a very beautiful chain-like pattern of one of the chariot wheels of the Konark Sun Temple, supported by pillars and a foundation, which itself has wheels adorning it.

The Aanchal or Pallu part of the saree is adorned with motifs of stone sculptures of horses , elephants and temple dancers, three of the most beautiful types of sculptures, with a rudraksh border, which evokes the essence of the Mahadev, or the Destroyer of Evil, Lord Shiva, something which hints at divine amity, that is, the joint fusion of the essence of Lord Surya and Lord Shiva.
