Draped in the timeless elegance of Odisha`s celebrated handloom tradition, this exquisite Berhampuri Patta Silk Saree is a masterpiece born from the skilled hands of master weavers of Berhampur (Brahmapur), Ganjam district. Every thread tells a story of generations-old craft, cultural pride, and unmatched artisanal finesse.

The Body – Dual Tone Blue Silk with Scattered Butis

The saree`s expansive body is woven in a breathtaking dual tone of blue, a hallmark iridescent quality that is unique to Berhampuri silk. This mesmerizing colour-play is achieved through the use of contrasting warp and weft threads, a technique that gives the fabric its characteristic chameleon-like shimmer.
Delicately scattered across this lustrous canvas are small woven butis (motifs) in deep violet( purple). These butis, placed with careful symmetry, add a quiet yet striking rhythm to the body of the saree without overwhelming its serene blue expanse. The effect is one of understated luxury — a saree that speaks softly but commands attention.

The Border – Iconic Phoda Kumbha Design

Flanking the body on both sides is the saree`s most distinguished feature — the Phoda Kumbha border, rendered in bold, royal bluish violet with sharp geometric precision. The Phoda Kumbha is the most iconic and identifiable design element of Berhampuri weaving tradition, deeply rooted in the cultural and spiritual landscape of coastal Odisha.
The temple-spire-like border rises and falls in a rhythmic zigzag, evoking the silhouette of ancient Odishan temple shikhars. Woven with mathematical accuracy on the handloom, this border is a testament to the weaver`s extraordinary control over thread tension, count, and pattern repeat. The deep violet-blue border against the dual tone silk body creates a vivid, high-contrast frame that elevates the entire aesthetic of the saree.

The Aanchal (Pallu) – A Riot of Multicoloured Grandeur

Turn to the double aanchal and you enter an entirely different visual world — vibrant, celebratory, and deeply traditional. The pallu unfolds in multiple horizontal bands of colour, weaving together orange, green, magenta, purple, violet, and gold in a bold, striped composition that is characteristic of the most prized Berhampuri pallus.
Interspersed within these colourful bands are intricate woven motifs — traditional Odishan symbols including geometric medallions, floral forms, and sacred iconography rendered in contrasting thread. The double aanchal construction means bigger in size carry this elaborate weave, offering the wearer maximum visual impact regardless of draping style.
The pallu is the crowning glory of this saree — a wearable tapestry that celebrates the full spectrum of the Berhampuri weaver`s palette and skill.

Blouse Piece

The saree comes with a matching blouse piece in the dual tone blue silk and border, allowing for a coordinated, polished look. The blouse fabric mirrors the body of the saree in both colour and texture, offering the wearer the freedom to style it with minimalist elegance.

Styling & Occasion

This saree is ideal for Puja celebrations, cultural events, weddings, festivals, and traditional family gatherings. It pairs beautifully with gold or silver jewellery, particularly temple-style earrings and bangles that complement its Odishan weaving heritage.

Why This Saree is Special

Berhampuri Patta sarees carry a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, recognising the unique heritage and geographical origin of this weave. Purchasing this saree means investing in a piece of living cultural heritage, directly supporting the handloom weaver communities of Ganjam, and owning a textile that no machine can truly replicate.
Each saree is hand-woven on a pit loom, requiring several days of meticulous work. Minor variations in the weave are not flaws — they are the fingerprints of the human hand, the mark of authenticity.

Own a piece of Odisha. Wear a tradition. Celebrate the handloom.
